Murphy Tractor and Equipment Company, Inc., Sponsors NE AGC Event
May 29, 2008
Murphy Tractor in Grand Island, sponsored the Nebraska Associated General Contractors, Spring Construction Industry Day, held on May 15. This event was an opportunity for NE AGC members to meet with state representatives from the field and upper management to discuss issues, work out specifications, and improve partnering efforts on behalf of the taxpayer.
Over 160 people were in attendance for the committee meetings and ‘Fiesta de Mayo’ Mexican buffet dinner & reception, held at the Interstate Holiday Inn. A GPS machine control demonstration was held at Murphy Tractor’s branch location, 3204 S Engleman Rd.
Demonstrated equipment included a John Deere 700J Crawler Dozer and 872D Motor Grader equipped with Topcon machine control sensor. DK&B Construction Specialties from Omaha, NE, who represents Topcon, mapped the area and set-up a profile simulating an actual road grading project. The system allows the operator to simply initiate a link to the GPS and the blade on the equipment moves the exact amount of dirt at the correct grade. Many of those in attendance took advantage of the opportunity to get hands-on experience using this technology. These machine control sensors greatly increase equipment efficiency, accuracy and reduce the amount of set-up and down-time significantly.
